The short answer
Where to start
Send the complete passenger and luggage picture before choosing an SUV. Confirm the exact seating configuration and any child-restraint needs with the concierge.

Count space twice
First list every passenger and any seating needs; then list bags, a stroller or other equipment. An advertised seating count alone cannot establish how everything fits at the same time. Ask for the configuration of the exact rental vehicle and do not assume that folding a seat will be possible when the party needs it occupied.

Resolve restraint and access questions early
Tell the concierge if child restraints will be required and ask whether you must provide them. Compatibility and installation need to be checked for the actual vehicle. Do not assume that accessories are included in the displayed price. Also consider whether the vehicle's entry height will be comfortable for everyone throughout the stay.

Simplify the first and last day
A clear airport or hotel handoff reduces the amount to manage while traveling with family. Share the destination, the full luggage count and a realistic arrival window. Before the return day, confirm where unloading and the vehicle inspection will happen. Build in time for the people and equipment as well as for the car itself.
