Open-air touring or a sports-car day?
Portofino and McLaren 650S Spider put a sports-car experience near the center of the choice. Dawn and Continental GTC suggest a different kind of touring occasion. The SL and BMW M4 offer further alternatives, while the Mustang provides an entry-priced way to enjoy a roof-down drive. They are not substitutes for one another simply because they share an open roof.

Build a flexible coastal day
Morning or a later outing may be more comfortable than a long roof-down drive during the hottest part of the day. Weather can change quickly; a good itinerary gives you alternatives without turning the rental into a rush.
A convertible is also enjoyable with the roof closed. Choose a model you want to spend time in under either condition. For an occasion involving formal clothing or carefully styled hair, consider how much of the trip you actually want to make with the roof open.
Choose a roof-down window, not an all-day obligation
